Our client is SAAS software solutions company (mobile payment solutions) based in Ottawa that has been acquired by a major software business in North America. The acquiring business intends to expand the company and retain its own brand identity.
The client has revenues of around 10 million USD, with 80-100 headcount, and they are now looking for a Finance Director to manage the finances of the company / BU. The client is looking for someone that can lead a team of 2 to ensure all the day to day financial functions of the business are fulfilled and also get involved with the general business operations of the BU (also assisting the CEO with sales pipelines and forecasting etc).
Reporting directly to the CEO with a dotted line to the Group VP of Finance will be primarily responsible for financial operations. This position will be based in Ottawa, Canada.
Management• Act as a business partner to the CEO and senior leadership• Lead a finance team that delivers excellent pro-active service to its stakeholders • Train and develop people within the finance team• Provide strategic financial leadership on issues affecting the business• Recommend and lead efforts to improve ROIC (return on invested capital) and/or growth performance
Finance & Reporting• Accountable for accurate and timely monthly/quarterly financial reporting to ensure compliance of internal and external reporting and requirements in accordance with IFRS• Monitor and enforce Key Performance Indicators (KPI) • Manage ‘Quarterly Strategic Review’ (QSR) process, using extensive excel modeling, pipeline, and costs analysis to prepare a robust forecast• Ensure execution of action points from the QSR review process• Work closely with VP Group Finance on all finance-related matters.
Governance & Risk• Apply best practices to processes, people and systems to affect revenue, profitability, and cash-flow, to improve operating efficiency and performance.• Lead and implement the introduction of new systems and processes such as new financial systems and timesheet tracking system• Responsible for Risk Management process review, effective internal controls, policy standardization, and process improvements.• Responsible for inter-company transactions and transfer pricing documentation• Oversee and improve effective administration processes and systems for company records and contracts.• Stay abreast of trends and regulations to ensure effectiveness and compliance for the finance functions.
Legal• Work closely with all functional leads to ensure project bids and contract terms, financial and otherwise, adhere to corporate parameters.• Coordinate all legal activities internally and with external legal.

The person must have experience working for a software company previously that operates internationally. The ideal person would have experience working for a Telecommunications software vendor or payments / financial services company (again software). Above all, the person must be very hands-on given the small team size.
It would be best if the person has a small company experience.
The client is looking to pay in the region of 130K CAD + substantial bonus on achievement 30%. The client is looking for someone that can grow with the company and be the number 1 finance person in the business operating as a CFO longer term as the team grows.
