Senior Wireless Engineer

GuROO is seeking a Senior Wireless Network Engineer to help support DoD WLAN activities within the Washington, DC Area

A successful candidate will be responsible for the health and maintenance of a complex Aruba Enterprise 802.11 Wireless & Wireless Intrusion Detection System (WIDS) infrastructure. This includes the design, implementation, network administration and operational support to more than 1500 Access Points in various location. The engineer will provide comprehensive network administration, security enhancements and remediation, and troubleshooting of network devices such as Mobility Master, Mobility Controllers, Airwave Servers, and Branch controllers. This position requires an understanding of best practices pertaining to network security and may require the development, deployment, and integration of network security services. Successful candidates should be able to work both independently and as part of a team. Candidate shall provide support services to meet the Agency's mission of providing premier enterprise wireless services that are available worldwide 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days per year. This task area may be subject to non-standard work hours and approximately two after hour calls per week.

Additional responsibilities for the position are:

  • Deploy and maintain network hardware, peripherals, services, and settings in accordance with industry standards and project/operational requirements
  • Performs daily system monitoring; verifies the integrity and availability of networking hardware, services, systems, and key processes; reviews system and application logs
  • Documents and performs network upgrades and modifications during ASI windows
  • Provides on-call troubleshooting and issue resolution as required
  • Develops and maintains installation and configuration procedures
  • Partner with the information security personnel to assess potential exposure to vulnerabilities, identify mitigation plans, and ensure compliance with enterprise security baselines and standards
  • Review problems to understand the root causes of issues and ensure proper fixes are implemented
  • Inform management in a clear, concise, and timely manner of any customer or technical issues
  • Use JIRA enterprise service management tools to initiate, respond, and track service requests
  • Create reports and analyze performance metrics

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Top Secret clearance and ability to obtain SCI
  • Top Secret clearance and ability to obtain SCI
  • BA/BS in Engineering or IT related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience supporting projects of similar size, scope and complexity.
  • Relevant experience as it pertains to Task 6.2.1 can be substituted for education.
  • Demonstrated experience with LAN and WLAN administration with a focus on mobility and optimization of a wireless environment with an ever-changing amount of SSIDs to support changing missions.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing, designing and implementing Access Points, Antenna design, Aruba Networks Wireless Controllers, and Aruba Networks Airwave.
  • 8140/8570 IAT II compliant.
  • ACMP, CCNP Wireless (active certification), CCNP Enterprise with either 300-425 ENWLSD or 300-430 ENWLSI examinations, CWDP, and/or CWNA.
